St George Illawarra Dragons second-rower Will Matthews has been unsuccessful in his bid to overturn the Grade 1 “Dangerous Throw” charge by the NRL Match Review Committee on Wednesday.

Matthews committed the incident against Parramatta Eels prop Anthony Watmough during the 59th minute of the 16-12 loss at Pirtek Stadium, Parramatta on Saturday.

The Kyogle Turkeys junior contested the charge and was found Guilty which carries a grading of 187 points.

Matthews is suspended for one week and will miss the home fixture against the North Queensland Cowboys at WIN Stadium, Wollongong on Saturday.
