St George Illawarra Dragons hooker Mitch Rein is pleased to be given the opportunity to wear the NSW Country Origin jersey once again.

The Kiama Knights junior made his debut for the representative team last season but was a late inclusion this time into Head Coach Trent Barrett’s 18-man squad.

The Dragons rake will join teammates Joel Thompson and Tyson Frizell for the annual fixture and is looking forward to the week ahead.

“I wasn’t part of the original team and was sitting around at home when rung by our Football Manager Robert Finch who informed me someone had pulled out,” said Rein.

“I was a little but like ‘damn’ missing out at first before being selected.

“I’m pretty stoked by the call-up and looking forward on what the week will entail ahead of the game.

“I get the chance to play with a few other country blokes who I usually don’t get the chance to play alongside and we get to do that in the country.

“Those crowds really get behind us and I’m looking forward to playing in Wagga Wagga.

“We’re only going to have a handful of training session leading up to the game but I’m looking forward to learning what I can from Trent Barrett.”
