St George Illawarra Dragons lock Trent Merrin will undergo scans in the coming days to determine the extent of an injury sustained around his ankle joint.

The NSW Blues representative sustained the ailment while scoring in the 19-18 win over the Gold Coast Titans at Cbus Super Stadium, Robina on Sunday.

“Trent had an unusual injury when he sidestepped to score his try,” said Dragons Performance Director Andrew Gray.

“He got a sharp pain in his shin so it looks like he might have some injury to his ankle joint or the membrane between the two bones.

“He will now undergo scans to confirm the exact problem.”
