Illawarra Cutters winger Kyle Martens took time to reflect on his own performance following the 24-16 opening trial victory over the Windsor Wolves fixture at Ron Costello Oval, Shellharbour on Saturday.
Cutters winger Martens is one of Head Coach Paul McGregor’s new recruits ahead of the Club’s second NSW Cup campaign and hopes to earn all he can at the new Club.
The former St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition player did not harm his chances of further selection following a pacey first-half try down the wing in the Cutter’s opening trial win.
"It was pretty tough stepping up from the Dragons NYC teams as well as being with with a new team and a new bunch of boys but we came out on top which is positive,” said Martens.
"They must have got their second wind, but Mary had a two team set up, mixing and matching players, it came down to gelling and really it's the first time we have put the plays on in a structured environment.
"I haven't played footy in a couple of months , I know there's some things I can improve on and hopefully on Monday Mary can point them out and help me to improve."
