Cutters Secure Opening Trial Win

The Illawarra Cutters defeated the Windsor Wolves 24-16 in their opening trial fixture at Ron Costello Oval, Shellharbour on Saturday.
The Cutters withstood some early pressure by the Wolves, and opened the scoring in the through winger Jack Twist in the 15th minute.
Midway through the half, centre Chris Astill swooped on a grubber and scored beside the posts.
Halfback John Kennedy converted to make it 10-0.
The Wolves hit back with an unconverted try ten minutes before the interval, before Cutters winger Kyle Martens scored in the right corner eight minutes later.
Head Coach Paul McGregor sent out a new team for the second half, and 15 minutes in had their lead increased by Jason Raper.
Kyle Eather was sucessful with the sideline conversion to make it 20-4.
The Wolves replied with three quick tries to make it 20-16, but the Cutters' defence held on and a late try to Josh Toole secured victory.
