The St George Illawarra Dragons and South Sydney Rabbitohs will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Charity Shield fixture on Sunday afternoon at ANZ Stadium, Olympic Park.

The Dragons currently lead the Charity Shield ledger with 16 wins to the Rabbitohs' 12, though five draws between the two clubs since 1982 has allowed South Sydney to reclaim the Shield on all five of those occasions.

The 2017 Charity Shield will serve as Dragons fans' first good look at new recruits Paul Vaughan, Cameron McInnes and Nene Macdonald.

The same applies to the Rabbitohs who have named new faces Braidon Burns, Robbie Farah, Anthony Cherrington, Robert Jennings, Luke Kelly and Robbie Rochow in their 22-man squad.

The Charity Shield will also prove the final hurdle in the race for the Dragons' No. 7 jumper with Josh McCrone, Jai Field and Kurt Mann all named to play against the Rabbitohs.
