St George Illawarra Dragons winger Yaw Kiti Glymin is simply glad to be back playing regular rugby league after overcoming a recurring hamstring injury.

The local Arncliffe Scots junior returned to action for the Illawarra Cutters in their 40-24 win over the Newcastle Knights in the NSW Cup last round.

Glymin has since been named again on the flanks for the Cutters in their rescheduled fixture against the Newtown Jets at Henson Park, Marrickville on Friday.

“To get back out there with the boys is obviously something that I really wanted to do and unfortunately because of my hamstring injury it’s been a very long time coming,” said Glymin.

“I haven’t played a full game of footy since the week before my first-grade debut for the Dragons and that’s about a year ago.

“I can’t thank the medical staff enough as they put in a lot of their own time outside of training to help me led by Tony Ayoub and his physiotherapists.

“The goal now is to remain injury free and keep up with the rehabilitation program I have been given and build up my confidence in the process.

“It was a slow start by us but we regrouped and came together when it mattered towards the end for the win.”

Fellow Dragons teammate Taane Milne admits he is pleased to see the return of Glymin and was positive in assessing the flanker’s return.

Milne joined the Red-and-Whites during the off-season and trains with both the first-grade team as well as the Cutters squad.

“It was good to see Kiti out there as it was his first game since playing in the NRL Auckland Nines tournament and I think he did really well and kept up with the pace of the game,” said Milne.

“There were a couple of times when he got a few knocks but he just held on and played until the end.

“Overall I think we are starting to get some momentum together heading into the second-half of the season.”
