Illawarra Cutters Head Coach Jason Demetriou admits there is still room for improvement heading into the match against the Newcastle Knights at Hunter Stadium, Newcastle on Saturday.

The Cutters enter the encounter on the back of a 24-12 win over the Wentworthville Magpies last round but were far from clinical despite securing the two competition points.

Demetriou believes his team needs to learn from that performance if they are to contest their next three from four fixtures away from home and hopes victory over the Knights will establish the strong platform needed.

"We need to be better than what was displayed against the Magpies," said Demetriou.

"I guess the result against them though showed we are still capable of winning football games when we're off our game.

"We have a huge challenge ahead of us with nearly a month on the road, which includes a trip over to New Zealand to face the inform Warriors.

"We know as a playing group that we need to take our footy to another level starting this Saturday against the Knights who will be keen to perform well in front of their home crowd.

“We have addressed what’s needed to make this happen and hopefully its displayed on game day.”
