Illawarra Cutters duo Shaun Nona and Shannon Wakeman are looking forward to the opportunity to be part of the NSW Residents team who will face their Queensland counterparts at Langlands Park, Brisbane on Sunday.

Nona, who joined the Cutters during the off-season, was humbled by the selection and is looking forward to playing with the NSW Cup's best players as well as testing himself against some of his former Queensland team mates.

“There’s a lot of great players in both teams, that I am looking to play with and against,” said Nona.

“I’ve been lucky enough to play in the last two clashes for Queensland where we had success.

“I am very much looking forward to putting the shoe on the other foot, and try to bring the trophy south of the border”.

Wakeman feels he has been close to making this side in recent years and was relieved to receive the call-up to represent his state.

“I feel that I have been close to making this side in previous years, so  I am really happy to get this opportunity,” said Wakeman.

“I am looking forward to testing myself at this level, as I feel that it will be close to NRL standard.”
