Illawarra Cutters utility Andrew McCarthy is excited to face the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at Nowra Showgrounds on Sunday.

Bathurst, Moss Vale, Cessnock, Woy Woy and Nowra will all get front row seats to see the state's best talent as part of the annual Intrust Super Premiership Country Round.

McCarthy, originating from the country town of Junee, is one of many Country Rugby League representatives in the Cutters squad and is looking forward to the opportunity to play in front of regional fans.

“I can’t wait to play down at Nowra this Sunday,” said McCarthy.

“Obviously playing down on the South Coast, there will be a fair amount of Dragons fans, so hopefully they can come out and support the Illawarra Cutters and see the talent coming through the system, as well as seeing what the competition has to offer.

“I really enjoy participating in the Country Round as I believe it is a great initiative which gives some regional areas the opportunity to be exposed to a high quality game of footy.

“It also gives them the opportunity to see the calibre of players coming through the ranks.

“It’s good for the growth of the game.”
