The St George Illawarra Dragons proudly spread the message of ‘WELLBEING’ via a school blitz to more than 30 schools across the Illawarra on Wednesday.

The entire Dragons first-grade squad, alongside over 80 NRL Development officers from across the country, spread the powerful message which focuses on the mental wellness, physical activity, nutrition, belonging and positive relationships to over 7,000 attentive students spanning from Helensburgh in the north to Shell Cove in the south.

Students were informed via an interactive school assembly which was run in a game show format to create an all-inclusive learning environment with players including captain Ben Creagh, Benji Marshall, Joel Thompson and Mitch Rein, all involved.

“It was really great to be able to get out into the local community and spreading the important messages concerning healthy living, positive wellbeing and group inclusiveness” said Rein.

“I know that all the players had a great time being involved in spreading these key messages and it was quite fun being able to relay this to all the students via the unique game show format.

“We have a large squad with several new faces who arrived during the off-season so it was great to use that a key example of inclusiveness and belonging which I know the kids all took on board.

“Healthy living for me includes staying hydrated and making sure I have plenty of sleep so I can perform at my best, so anecdotes like that to emphasise looking after the body was discussed as well.

“Dragons Community does a lot to help support all areas of our region, bth in the Illawarra and South Coast as well as in St George, and I am looking forward to getting out amongst the community again soon.”
