The St George Illawarra Dragons announced on Wednesday the contract extension of Yaw Kiti Glymin until at least the end of the 2017 season.

Glymin, 22, has recently overcome a hamstring strain which he suffered while making his first-grade debut against the North Queensland Cowboys at WIN Stadium, Wollongong in Round 17.

The local Arncliffe Scots junior joined the Dragons High Performance Unit in 2009 and graduated from the Dragons National Youth Competition team ranks in 2013.

“I am really happy to have the opportunity to continue playing for the Dragons having worked my way up from their junior grades to first-grade over the years,” said Glymin.

"It’s every player’s dream to someday represent their childhood team and I am fortunate that I was recently given the chance to do just that with the Dragons.

“My goal now is to continue contributing to the first-grade squad as well as continuing my development under the guidance of Head Coach Paul McGregor.”

Dragons Director of Recruitment and Retention Peter Mulholland is pleased that the local junior has agreed to remain at the Club for at least two more seasons.

“Kiti is a talented athlete developed through our junior pathway systems who we believe has a bright future in the game,” said Mulholland.

“Kiti joined our full-time NRL squad in the pre-season and earned his first-grade debut following his efforts in training and performances with the Illawarra Cutters in the NSW Cup, it was just unfortunate that he suffered the untimely injury in his debut game.

“We look forward to his continued development at the Club and are very pleased that he has made the decision to remain with the Dragons for at least the next two seasons”.
