St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition team lock Abraham Atallah hopes the team can learn from recent week leading into the local derby against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks at Jubilee Oval, Kogarah on Sunday.

The Young Dragons notched only their second win of the season in a hard-fought 24-20 encounter against the Canberra Raiders prior to the bye last round.

Atallah admits the entire team realise they cannot squander this momentum and must play to the final whistle against their local rivals if they are to press on and commence a positive run of games.

“We had a really good start to the game which set us up from there for the remainder of the game,” said Atallah.

"We spoke about playing the entire eighty minutes as we had identified that we had dropped off in stages in previous matches and closed out games.

"We knew the second-half in particular was going to be amongst the most difficult this season for the reasons mentioned and everyone knew what to expect.

"We need to now string a few games together which starts against the Sharks this weekend in the local derby.

"We haven’t one back-to-back this season yet so that is the goal and hopefully we can build from there.”
