St George Illawarra Dragons second-rower Tyson Frizell has been added to the NSW Blues State of Origin squad for the opening fixture against the Queensland Maroons at ANZ Stadium, Olympic Park on Wednesday, May 27.

Frizell, in addition to Ryan James and Matt Moylan, has been called-in to the squad by Head Coach Laurie Daley to serve as cover for the team as well as to help further his individual development.

Daley believed the local Corrimal Cougars junior would learn a lot from the camp environment as well as provide back-up should it be needed.

“In Ryan, Tyson and Matt, we’ve got two forwards and a back who add depth and cover a range of positions if we need it,” said Daley.

“They are great young men and should get plenty from the experience even if they’re not required to pull on the NSW Blues jersey for this match.”
