The St George Illawarra Dragons Community department hosted the annual Kids Big Day Out at WIN Stadium, Wollongong on Sunday.

One hundred and eighty families and kids with special needs from Illawarra Disability Trust, ASPECT School South Coast and Para Meadows Special School attended the event which is in its fourth year.

The children and their families had an enjoyable afternoon full of footy, food, face painting, fairies, balloon animals, and reptiles, in addition to appearances by Happy Dragon and Ronald McDonald.

Kids Big Day Out Ambassador Michael Weyman was on hand to meet all in attendance, much to the delight of the families.

“This is something we are very passionate about and it’s great to see the look on the kids’ faces,” said Weyman.

Troy Schulz, father to Max, praised the event for putting a smile on the face of all the children who deserve it most.

“Today is our first visit to the Dragons’ Kids Big Day Out and Max has had a great time with the balloons, the clown, Happy Dragon and the players, we’re very thankful for a lovely day,” Schulz said.

Dragons Community Manager Paul Everill stated how important an event this is to run every year, giving families the opportunity to enjoy a carefree afternoon at the footy in a comfortable and unique environment.
