There are four courses so kids, beginners or experienced athletes can all have a go. The community walk, that supports local charity partner Anglicare, is open to everyone!

According to organiser Rob Battocchio, the event is about participation and draws an eclectic mix of participants across all ages from international elite athletes and visitors to hundreds of families.

The Aquathon is all about fun and having a go.

“The Aquathon is about participation, and designed for all ages and standards, safe and fun," said Battocchio.

"Wollongong Boat Harbour offers a mostly sheltered  swimming venue and the ‘blue mile’ walkway the perfect coastal run or walk course.

"With loads of experienced lifesavers and volunteers, its safe and everyone is made to feel welcome!

“Parents can even join their little one and with the inclusion of tag teams, the runner can match up with a swimmer!

"It will be a unique and fun way to welcome Australia Day."

Participation is what Aquathon is about.

“From humble beginnings this little event has grown to be Australia’s largest swim, run or walk event, and attracts an international audience," said Battocchio.

"Mostly though, the Aquathon is about community. It creates an amazing atmosphere that adds to the Australia Day festivities.

“To witness first timers, hundreds of children, seniors, and people with a disability all enjoying themselves is the real win of the day.  And it’s great to see donations raised through the Aquathon making a real difference to local charities.”

There are Hundreds of prizes, loads of sponsor offers and “give away”s, professional services and an amazing community atmosphere.

The day of activities at Wollongong Harbour start at 8.00am and will continue on to fireworks at night.
