St George Illawarra Dragons utility Bronson Harrison is focused on facing the table-topping Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at Jubilee Oval, Kogarah on Monday.
The Dragons commenced training for the upcoming fixture having been given several days rest courtesy of the allotted “bye round” and the New Zealand international is pleased with his teammate’s efforts on the training field.
Harrison concedes that the encounter will additionally be humbling given the match is a component of the Rise For Alex Round and the Club’s association with the former Dragons player.
“It’s moving for a lot of our players who have played alongside Alex,” said Harrison.
“It’s sad to see what has happened to him, but it’s good to see the whole NRL community get behind him and help him on his journey.
“Every person that gets out this weekend and attends a game, the NRL will donate $1 to the Foundation, so it would be nice to see lots of people out at all the games this weekend.
“We always had the belief that we are a good team, we weren’t getting the results we wanted early on and we went through some tough times but everybody goes through tough times.
“We’re happy with where we are at, we’re stepping up each week and that’s all Mary has asked that we put in our best performance and continue to improve.
“Mary has been great, he asks the challenging questions of all players; he demands a lot, which only brings out the best in the players.
“There’s a lot more confidence within the group at the moment and he’s asking a lot of us and we’re stepping up to the challenge.
“Mary said for us to enjoy a bit of time out and we were given a bit of time off during the Bye round
It is a long season and we’ve got some tough games ahead of us and we need had that time to refresh and now we’re back into it and focused on each game as they come.
“Manly are top quality side, they’re not coming first for no reason, but we are focused on Monday and we’ll be sure to put in a good performance.”
