The St George Illawarra Dragons have called on their supporters to unite with the team and put the disappointment of Monday night against the Melbourne Storm behind them and support the team against the New Zealand Warriors at Kogarah on Saturday.

“The evidence is there and it was pretty disappointing, but that's rugby league,” said Dragons winger Jason Nightingale.

“We really have to focus on the good things we did in the game, which were quite a lot. If we keep thinking about it, then it's not going to help.

“The short turnaround is the best thing after a gut-wrenching loss.

"You don't really have time to think about it as you have to move on and prepare for the next game and we can’t wait to get out in front of a big home crowd at Kogarah on Saturday night."

As the Players focus and prepare for Saturday, the Club confirmed on Wednesday that it has written to the NRL in respect to the ending of the game on Monday night.

The Club has formally written to the NRL seeking an explanation surrounding the circumstances that saw the Melbourne Storm awarded victory after full-time at AAMI Park, Melbourne on Monday night.

The Club believes that we deserve some answers so questions have been formally asked on behalf of everyone associated with the Dragons - Players, Coaches, Members, Corporate Partners and Fans.

We believe this to be a unique circumstance, the NRL has admitted that the contest should have been officially over and, as such, we have asked about the two competition points and the points differential and also taken the opportunity to raise a number of other issues, considerations and examples in relation to “time” within the game.

The impacts of this decision are wide ranging for us as a Club both on and off the field as it would be for any other Club in the game as well as for the integrity of the game.

We would like to thank all our Members, Partners and supporters for their comments throughout our various channels since Monday night surrounding this particular circumstance and acknowledge their shared frustration and disappointment.

We can assure you that we are taking the matter seriously and will continue our enquiries with the NRL but we are not looking to make any further public comment on the matter.

Our Club is choosing to focus on the match on Saturday night against the Warriors and we would encourage all our Partners, Members and supporters to come out to Kogarah on Saturday night to support the team who have put the disappointment behind them and are determined to bounce back positively in what promises to be a great match.
