St George Illawarra Dragons centre Gerard Beale has been praised by New Zealand Kiwis Head Coach Stephen Kearney.

Beale was impressive, clocking up 154 metres and notching a try, in the Dragons' 24-28 loss to the Melbourne Storm at AAMI Park, Melbourne on Monday.

And with only three weeks until the Anzac Test against the Australia Kangaroos, Kearney is encouraged by the performances of several players in contention for team spots including Beale.

"For me, there were a few that stood out and some of Beale’s defensive plays were really good,” said Kearney.

The Dragons presently have three capped Kiwi international players in Jason Nightingale, Bronson Harrison and Beale.
