St George Illawarra Dragons fullback Josh Dugan has honoured his promise to shave his pre-season beard as part of the World’s Greatest Shave on Monday.

Dugan faced the clippers outside the Dragons Kogarah Retail Store to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation after promising to do so if the Club reached 16,000 forever faithful Red V Members milestone.

The Dragons reached this fantastic achievement on Friday and lucky Red V Member Silvana Petrovski, a proud Red V Member since 2008 who renewed her Gold Membership Package for the 2014 season, was invited to help out with the shave.

Following the event, the Dragons and a selection of their Corporate Partners combined together to present a $4,000 donation to Leukaemia Foundation General Manager of NSW and ACT Christine McMillan.

Dragons Corporate Partners Momentum Energy ($2,000) and Carlton United Breweries ($1,000) contributed the two largest donations towards the great cause.

“I would like to personally thank everyone involved in helping to arrange this great day which helps raise awareness for such an important issue that affects a lot of families,” said Dugan.

“The World’s Greatest Shave raises money for the Leukaemia Foundation to help fund important work and I am very grateful for the amount of money raised by both the Club and their Corporate Partners.

“It’s a weird feeling not having my beard anymore given I grew it out for at least the past three months but it was all worthwhile in the end.

“I am stoked that there was such a call to arms as well by all the Red V Members who signed-up during this time period and their support is valued.

“There’s nothing like the support of Red V Members and I look forward to returning to the field soon to experience their cheers again.”

All Dragons Red V Members who signed up to March with the Dragons in 2014 went into the draw to win the opportunity to meet Josh Dugan and shave his beard with monies raised for the Leukaemia Foundation.
