St George Illawarra Dragons great Paul McGregor has glowingly endorsed captain Ben Creagh to lead by example when he takes to the field next season.
The former Dragons and Illawarra Steelers skipper was on hand to witness the unveiling of the University of Wollongong junior as Red-and-Whites captain last month.

McGregor, current coach of NSW Cup team the Illawarra Cutters, highlighted several attributes that make Creagh stand-out as a player including the fact he has thrice been named Dragons Player of the Year.
“I think he’s got a passion for the game,” said Creagh.
He’s certainly got a passion for the team and the fans, which is most important.
The other thing I think Ben does is lead by example, and the better captains have to, it’ll make Ben stronger as a player and a person.
“He’s a three-time winner of the medal for best player at the club, and I’m looking forward to him running out and leading the boys.
“Ben’s been involved in this club for 16 years, so he’s seen some good captains come and go, and he knows the system well.
“He knows the players well, and he’s got some great leaders around him like Matty Cooper, Michael Weyman and Nathan Fien who have got a lot of football between them.
“With those guys, ex-captains and people he can turn to, he’ll handle it well.
“He’s got the right people around him.”
“We’re one club, and I think Benny’s happy to captain a group of men, who are all out there for one reason, and that’s to win games of footy and put themselves in a position to win the competition.”
