St George Illawarra Dragons hooker Mitch Rein is primed for another big pre-season and knows he can’t simply rest on his laurels.
The Kiama junior featured in all 24 first-grade fixtures for the Red-and-Whites and racked up the highest tackle tally with an impressive 769 tackles to his name in the process.
Yet Rein, 22, is aware that he there is always room for improvement if he is to improve and maintain his starting spot and know he must put the hard work in now.
“We have a big pre-season coming up and everyone will be pushing each other for spots,” said Rein.
“Nothing is set in stone at this stage.
“My goal is to try and keep improving each session bit by bit and hopefully see the rewards at the end.
“It’s hard to perform every week with the schedule we have and that’s how good players become great by adapting to it.
“That’s something I want to build on and get my routine right.
“I set myself small goals last season and as I achieved them I set more – the hard work reaped rewards and that’s all I can keep doing.”
