St George Illawarra Dragons hooker Mitch Rein has been named in the New South Wales ‘Emerging Blues’ squad to be held later in January.
The Kiama junior is part of a 22-man contingent handpicked by NSW Head Coach Laurie Daley and the NSWRL High Performance Unit with the consideration that they will wear the famous sky blue jersey in the very near future.
“It’s an honour to be selected into the NSW Emerging Blues squad and something I wasn’t expecting,” said Rein.
“There have been many players who I’ve looked up to over the years who’ve represented NSW so to be even considered is pretty humbling.
“I know the camp will give me a good opportunity to continue building my game and give me some insight into what I need to do to take it to the next level.”
The Emerging Blues Camp will take place over three days at Coogee beginning Friday, January 18.
"We want these players Origin ready from the moment they receive the phone call and camps like these are essential for us to get them into that space,” said Daley.
"It is about helping players transition through to this next level of Rugby League."
