Dragons To Celebrate Community Carnival Across Two States

The St George Illawarra Dragons will be visiting several dozen schools across two states when they help to promote the annual Community Carnival School Blitz this week.
The Dragons are in the midst of week-long training camp in Cairns preparing for their opening trial fixture against the North Queensland Cowboys on Saturday.
However, they will swap the fields for the classrooms and conduct rugby league coaching clinics to 17 schools across the Cairns area on Tuesday.
Non-travelling Dragons players as well as Club Ambassadors Ben Hornby and Dean Young will be delivering similar messages that same day to eight schools across the Illawarra.
This will be followed by similar activities, conducted by a contingent of Dragons players alongside Dragons Community staff, in and around the St George region on Wednesday.
“The Community Carnival is a great initiative run by the Dragons Community as well as NRL One Community which allows players the chance to give back to the community,” said 2012 Dragons Community Achievement Award recipient Jason Nightingale.
“To be able to be involved in several communities at the grass roots level across two states is unbelievable and something everyone here is proud of.”
The Dragons previously helped celebrate the Super Saturday Rego by visiting several junior Clubs in and around the St George District this past Saturday.
Dragons players were amongst the action all over St George District meeting and registering some footy stars of the future.
