Final preparations for the 2013 Junior Representative Rugby League season were reached this week when all four Dragons Junior Rep teams received their playing and dress gear.
On Monday 4 February the St George Harold Matthews (U16’s) and the SG Ball (U18’s) Cup teams were presented with their gear by St George Illawarra Dragons international winger Jason Nightingale. The two Illawarra Steelers teams followed on Wednesday 6 February when Dragons NRL forwards Dan Hunt and Trent Merrin presented the players with their gear prior to training.
Dragons Junior Representative Manager Neil Lovett commented “It’s great to see our NRL Dragons players, former St George and Illawarra Steelers Juniors themselves, continuing the tradition of wishing this year’s crop of outstanding youngsters all the best for their upcoming competition games. It’s also good that the messages from our senior players to the juniors aren’t all about football, but about being better people and having interests outside of Rugby League”.
Round 1 matches will be played on Saturday 9 February when St George play Balmain at WIN Jubilee Oval at 9.30am and 11.00am, and Illawarra take on Manly at WIN Stadium at 4.00pm and 5.30pm.
