Drinkwater: Looking Forward To Opportunity

St George Illawarra Dragons new recruit Josh Drinkwater admits he is adapting well to his new surroundings and looks forward to the opportunities that lay in waiting.
The Terrigal junior, who arrived during the off-season, is in the midst of his first pre-season with the Red-and-Whites and is adjusting to the new structures and systems in place around him.
The halfback has aspirations of one day playing first-grade but knows he must wait his turn – something he is happy to do.
“It’s definitely been the toughest pre-season that I’ve been involved in but I’m enjoying it and will continue just digging in,” said Fien.
“Steve and everyone else at the Club has welcomed me which has motivated me more to try and learn all the different plays.
“With a new Club there’s a lot you have to learn including new structures and such.
“It’s been my life-long goal to play first-grade but at this stage I want to try and cement a spot in the NSW Cup while continuing to train with the first-grade squad.
“To have the opportunity to learn and train under Jamie Soward and Nathan Fien is great for my game.
“They’ve helped me a lot since I arrived and I can’t wrap them enough for it.
“They’re giving me a lot of tips and I’m just trying to mirror what they’re doing.”
Members-first interviews are just one way the Red V Membership team tries to keep our most dedicated fans up to date with the Dragons. It's one of the ways we say thank you for signing up to March With Us in 2013.
