St George Illawarra Dragons fullback Gerard Beale is hoping to wear the custodian’s jersey for the Red V come the opening round of the new season in 2013.
Beale is part of a host of new faces at the Dragons and while he has been enjoying an intense pre-season, he is looking forward to pulling on the famous Red V jumper and playing some meaningful games for the Red-and-Whites.

The New Zealand international is excited to be part of a new beginning for the Dragons as they introduce a new club captain and some new players in key positions.
Beale is particularly looking forward to the round two fixture against the Brisbane Broncos, his former Club.
“Obviously I’d really like to play fullback for the Dragons and I’m just trying to put my best foot forward in preseason so come Round One hopefully I’ll be wearing that No. 1 jersey,” said Beale.
“This has been a really tough preseason; I think it’s the hardest I’ve ever had to train so I feel like I’m in really good shape.
“I can’t wait to get out there on the field in a Dragons jersey and start the new season.
“There’s a good bunch of boys here and I really feel like I fit in well here so that’s been pretty important for how I’ve settled down at the new club.
“It feels like this is a new turnaround for me and the club and I know all the boys feel like they want to train really hard to make something happen next year.
“It’s going to be a pretty big game against the Broncos in round two; I didn’t expect it to come around so quickly but I can’t wait to get out there with the boys in our first game, it should be really special.”
