DRAGONS RETURN TO TRAINING
Monday, 23 November 2009

The St George Bank Dragons returned to training today, with a number of new faces, as well as some familiar ones, put through their paces by Performance Director Jeremy Hickmans and his conditioning staff, at Beaton Park Leisure Centre, Wollongong.

After a refreshing eight-week break, the full squad, including the four new players, returned to training bright and early this morning in preparation for the traditionally grueling pre-season, as the club looks ahead to season 2010.

Captain Ben Hornby said although pre-season is never easy it is something that the players realize is crucial in their preparation for the long season ahead.

“It’s always good to see everyone again as well as meeting the new guys. Pre-season is tough, but we understand how important it is, and we are looking to improve on 2009, so everyone is happy to be back”.

As Captain Ben Hornby started his tenth pre-season with the Dragons, new recruit Peni Tagive was beginning his first.

“I’m just getting to know a few of the boys. Everyone is really humble and welcoming, so I’ve slotted in pretty well and really enjoying it at the moment”.

A familiar face was also at Dragons training today, as recently retired Dragon Wendell Sailor trained with his former team-mates in preparation for his farewell match representing the Indigenous All-Stars team.
