Dragons Prop Michael Weyman took control behind the wheel of a huge truck as part of Camp Quality Illawarra’s ‘Convoy for Kids’ held on Sunday November 15, 2009.
The annual ‘Convoy for Kids’ started at the West Cliff Colliery, Appin; Weyman had the honour of driving the third truck in the convoy, worthy of bragging rights considering 500 trucks and 400 motorbikes took part. The convoy travelled 70 kilometres through the Illawarra, coming to a halt at Croome Road Sporting Complex, Albion Park where a free family fun day was held.
Thousands of locals lined the streets to applaud the convoy, with another crowd of thousands awaiting the convoy at the family fun day.
Dragons NRL player and Camp Quality ambassador Dean Young and Dragons forward Dan Hunt were on hand at the Family Fun day as well as Dragons Red V staff. Dean and Dan had a great day meeting with fans, signing autographs and having pictures taken.
The Convoy raised a staggering $300 000 for Camp Quality Illawarra.
Dragons Community would like to congratulate everyone who took part in the event and Marty and Bianca from i98FM for initiating such an amazing concept!
