Longtime Dragons favourite Justin Poore is nominated as the Dragons Community Player of the Month for April. Justin has been busy combining his playing and training schedule whilst organizing the inaugural Charity dinner for “Hope Rwanda”.
Following a life changing trip to Rwanda in 2008, where he witnessed the devastation and poverty affecting the people of Rwanda, Justin says “I truly felt I couldn’t turn my back on the experience – I had to contribute more”
Justin’s willingness and passion to care for others less fortunate has led Justin to organize the function by raising funds for Hope Rwanda, a non-profit organization committed to the restoration of the people of Rwanda. Justin has spent his free time personally contacting potential sponsors, using his profile to source media partners and organizing the finer details involved with major fundraising events.
On top of his personal commitment Justin has also maintained his club commitments which include being the ambassador for Dragons Community “Women and Girls” programs, this includes supporting Wollongong University’s, Amnesty International ‘Stop Violence Against Women’ Campaign.
Justin also visited West Wollongong Primary School where he featured as guest speaker for a leadership seminar course for year 5 and 6 students. He also featured in the Illawarra Mercury for his role assisting Dragons Community staff at the Kids to Kangaroos School Holiday Clinic in Wollongong where he once again proved to be a huge success with all the kids.
Justin has been awarded a dinner for two at the Lagoon Restaurant, North Wollongong for his efforts - Congratulations Justin!
