Greenhouse Park
Dragons Community works collaboratively with Wollongong City Council on ‘Greenhouse Park’ a community environmental project that focuses on the issues relating to the greenhouse effect. Dragons Community visits the site throughout the year with local school students, conducting education sessions and hands-on activities.
National Initiatives
Dragons Community lends its support to national initiatives including ‘National Tree Planting Day’, ‘Clean up Australia Day’ and ‘World Environment Day’ in conjunction with Wollongong City Council.
Breakfast Broadcasts
In 2010, Dragons Community in partnership with BHP Billiton-Illawarra Coal piloted a new ‘breakfast broadcast’ initiative to promote being ‘environmentally friendly’. These broadcasts are held in BHP Billiton Illawarra Coal community schools and Appin Public School was the fortunate school this year.
Local radio station, 91.3FM and Dragons Community were embraced by the local Appin community. Activities, talk backs and interviews were conducted throughout the morning featuring giveaways, a free healthy breakfast and an environmentally focused school assembly.
More breakfast broadcasts are planned for 2012.
Recycling Initiatives
At the Dragons we ensure we practice what we preach with paper recycling systems in both the Dragons Sydney and Wollongong offices.
WIN Jubilee Oval, Kogarah and WIN Stadium, Wollongong also have mixed recycling systems in place.
