Dragons youngster Kyle Stanley says he is thrilled to be named in the NRL squad for tonight’s Charity Shield Clash against the Rabbitoh’s at ANZ Stadium.
The younger brother of former Dragon Chase Stanley, Kyle just 18, is the baby of the team for tonight’s clash but is rapidly receiving praise for his pre-season efforts in both training and his games against the Eels and Bulldogs.
“I’ve just been doing my job and have been loving playing with the boys.” Stanley says.
Having completed his first pre-season training since his NYC debut in 2007 after two serious knee injuries, Stanley has worked hard to make up for lost time.
“The back to back training is intense. But I have put in the hard yards and now hopefully I can benefit from that”. Stanley says.
With the potential to play center or in the halves, Stanley is sure to be an asset to the first-grade squad and is excited about the physicality of the contest.
His first-grade contemporaries are full of nothing but praise for the committed work ethic of the young Dragon.
“Kyle’s training has been exceptional. He has been putting in the effort and it’s showing on the field," says Dragons Captain Ben Hornby.
“We are looking forward to seeing what he can do”.
